Our very own celebrity manicurist, Jin Soon Choi, will be making a very special appearance at Lord and Taylor in September as part of a meet and greet during the tail end of fashion week. The Wild Magazine recently reviewed photographer David Armstrong's recent exhibition over at the Half Gallery in NYC (June 26—July 23, 2012). The photos are a selection of iconic Kodachrome pictures from David Armstrong’s archive of the late 70’s and early 80’s New York scene.
The images have been put together in David's most recently published book, "Night and Day." The book contains 110 images, including a facsimile of an original poem typed out in 1979 by Rene Ricard. David Armstrong’s latest work is simple in concept and
execution, but complex in its cultural significance. The entire time I
was in the Half Gallery I felt I was just scratching the surface of the
lives lived of Armstrong’s subjects in a time that I can only begin to
understand. The bleached blond hair, the red lipstick, and the seemingly
candid poses combine with one another to construct a space in which
frivolity is romanticized and youth is celebrated.

Attention Berlin! Next month is the opening of photographer Michael Thompson's solo exhibition in Berlin, entitled "Iconic Bodies." The opening will be held September 7th, 7:30 p.m. at CONTRIBUTED - Studio for the arts.

When the subject "loses" him or herself in mind and body during the photographic process the camera seems to disappear and wonderful things happen. Michael Thompson has been making “wonderful things happen” in the pages of countless prestigious fashion magazines and ad campaigns. His 20 plus years of experience has helped the most renowned and sought after models and celebrities bare their personalities as well as their bodies on the printed page. “Iconic Bodies” is a collection of moments when the camera disappeared and the subject was truly revealed.
