The Wild Magazine recently reviewed photographer David Armstrong's recent exhibition over at the Half Gallery in NYC (June 26—July 23, 2012). The photos are a selection of iconic Kodachrome pictures from David Armstrong’s archive of the late 70’s and early 80’s New York scene.
The images have been put together in David's most recently published book, "Night and Day." The book contains 110 images, including a facsimile of an original poem typed out in 1979 by Rene Ricard. For more info on the exhibition, click on over to The Wild Magazine (and read more reviews of the show from Interview and T Magazine).
From The Wild Magazine:
David Armstrong’s latest work is simple in concept and
execution, but complex in its cultural significance. The entire time I
was in the Half Gallery I felt I was just scratching the surface of the
lives lived of Armstrong’s subjects in a time that I can only begin to
understand. The bleached blond hair, the red lipstick, and the seemingly
candid poses combine with one another to construct a space in which
frivolity is romanticized and youth is celebrated.
