DEPARTURES has been awarded the Silver Medal for “Best Illustrated Story of the Year” by The Society of Publication Designers. The article, “Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam,” an illustrated travel journal by Jean-Philippe Delhomme, appeared in DEPARTURES’ October 2011 Destination Issue: The New Asia.
"For anyone who has ever entertained the notion that print media was in jeopardy, they need look no further than this award. Jean Philippe and Departures created something unique and special that could only exist and have such impact in the pages of a living breathing PRINT-based magazine," says Richard David Story, editor in chief.
The winners were celebrated at the SPD Annual Awards Gala on May 11 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
DEPARTURES recently announced that the publication marked the first half of 2012 with a 20 percent increase in advertising revenue and five percent uptick in paging.
