To welcome Jed Root Limited's new make-up artist Anita Keeling, our own Yan Javeri conducted a nice interview with her for the blog.
Yan Javeri - How did you get your start in the business?
Anita Keeling - To begin with I assisted on shoots with Miranda Joyce, Wendy Rowe and Mary Greenwell. But it was on an editorial shoot I got to meet Lachlan Bailey who at the time was assisting David Slijper, Lachlan and I did a test shoot together and shortly after did a shoot for the Face magazine with Lily Donaldson when she just started.
YJ - What is your favourite story so far?
AK - I was really pleased with a shoot in Zoo (Sept 09) shot by Dancian. It was a punk shoot and I had the freedom to play around with ideas and be creative. I had a great time and the results were good. This was also the shoot Yan, my agent referenced when we met.
YJ - What made you decide to join us here at Jed Root?
AK - Jed Root's reputation within the industry is fantastic and has always been an agency that I had aspired to be a part of.
YJ - Who is your fashion hero?
AK - Vivienne Westwood. I take a lot of inspiration from the eccentricity and sense of theatre in her work and I admire the way in which she has maintained this throughout her career.
YJ - What inspires you?
AK - The collections for each season looking at the show footage, going to galleries, visiting museums, paintings and books.
YJ - What is your ultimate goal?
AK - To have my own make-up line or consult for a make-up brand.
congrats Anita ;)
